If you're product idea is novel, see if you can patent it. You probably can't /don't have to means to do so. Knock-offs will not be avoidable. If you think knock-offs will be a big problem, make sure your branding, customer service etc. is on point so you're offering more than just the product.
Other then that, just fucking do it. Develop your product and find a manufacturer. Try a couple of them to see which one has the best price+quality+reliability+service etc. Then sell it via whatever path makes most sense for your product (own website, amazon, locally, via chain stores etc)

>"Good morning [boss], how're you today?"
polite conversation for at least 2 minutes if possible
>"How are we going to function with X gone?"
>"Well, anon, you're getting a promotion! You get to do X's job now, isn't that fun?"
You say >"So I'll have all of the responsibilities of a manager? Would I be able to document that somehow?"
He's going to say one of two things:
1. Absolutely, you'll see it in your pay check (most owners go this route, they wouldn't have brought it up and wouldn't have changed your pay had you not asked, but they can't deny you the raise legally and its not worth the legal issue)
2. "Well, we'll let you do the job for a bit and see how you do."
This is bad. You have to say something along the lines of:
>"Sir, I'm really not prepared to take on a promotion if I have nothing to show for it."
Try not to say the word work. Look him in the eye when you do it. Mean it. Also, look on Monster or other places tonight for jobs, whether or not you're successful you'll still see whats out there and you'll be more confident going in.

I work in R&D, so the work is actually interesting. I pray for you wagecucks in retail to either make it in crypto or find a comfy job some day.
