alright lads, i need a refresher.

>credit spreads for when i think a stock will go up/down and i collect on the premium
>debit spread for when i think a stock will go up/down and i collect on the underlying
>butterfly for when i think a stock won't move from the strike price and i collect the premium
>straddle for when i'm not sure if a stock will go up/down
>strangle for when i'm not sure if the stock will stay ATM

those are the strategies i'm sort of familiar with and thats my understanding of them. if i want to make a small profit every week, i should use one of these strats

Those are two different things said by two different groups to two different audiences.

While there is a significant degree of overlap, they don't mean exactly the same thing.

To elaborate:
a) Doctors are a part of the medical community, but not all members of the medical community are doctors, as they include other professions such as researchers.
b) Eating less does not always equate to weight loss if you do not specify what exactly it is you are eating less of, as it is technically possible to stop eating 5lbs of salad and eat 1lb of butter instead and gain weight, hence the emphasis on eating less calories specifically.
c) The (assumed) intended audience of the first statement seems to be geared towards the layperson(you), whereas the second statement's audience appears to for other academics, who do care about the details I mentioned above.

tl;dr You are basically trying to interpret what you read on based the assumption whoever wrote it did so specifically with you in mind and getting upset because it isn't exactly how you want it to be.
