I don't think anyone has ever sold an idea and made any money off it. They always get cut out of the deal one way or another.
The bare minimum I have heard of is building a proof of concept, and getting brought out for a one time payment of $10K.
Of course, then the product went on to make 100s of millions, and the inventor jumped off the Humber bridge.

Ideas are a dime a dozen. It's Doing things that is hard. If it's really so good, prove it.
