Maybe the key is finding something you really want to do and then finding the best way to do it.

For example I wanted to make the local mapping function like in a Pip-Boy of the Fallout games. I tried for a long time with a Raspberry Pi and gave up in total frustration. Six years later I tried again with an Arduino and it worked so easily that it made me mad I used a Pi in the first place.
