I'm a bad programmer and I'll be the first to admit that (the worst programmers are the ones that don't even know they're bad programmers). Sometimes I write bad code because I don't know it's bad, other times I write bad code because I'm on a tight deadline and I'm taking shortcuts. Even if I write what I perceive as good code, I'm gonna be cursing the fucker who wrote it in a years time when I come back to maintain it, forgetting it was myself.

However, the project failed because I was taken off the project after about 10 weeks. Good progress was made, a prototype with about 2/3 of MVP features. I was still happy that the codebase wasn't spaghetti yet. I demo'd it to a small investor with lots of caveats "oh this doesn't work yet", but he'd dealt with other tech startups before and assured me he knows how it goes and was pleased with what he saw, so he came on board.

After Christmas the original boss starts setting up a fucking swimming franchise for his mate's business, out of the blue. I'm pulled to work on websites and marketing for that. I was the only developer, so a couple of months later there's still no progress on the app. I heard talk about "sourcing more money" and "expanding" but it never happened. 5 months after starting he was having me do menial shit for him, like building 3D mockups for his shitty household inventions! Twat of an idea guy!

Money ran out, I got no warning and got screwed out of my last few weeks wages. Still pissed off after 3yrs
