I was wonder how Netflix's subscription model works.

There are millions of people who use this service. And there are thousands of movies and shows.

How exactly do they pay the business owners of the movies and shows? Is it percentage based or set determined amount? What happens if the movie in question is not too popular and there is only 1 viewing per month? Do they still pay the set amount or remove the movie or just pay the business less?

So my question is exactly, to put it in one sentence, how do they pay their clients?
