Why do people love this book so much?

So I've read the intelligent investor and have moved on to random walk. I'm about a third of the way in and getting tired of him saying "there is no evidence that this strategy works" over and over with no proof. And I believe him that they don't work but I feel like I'm reading Freakonomics or something. Pop science bullshit.

Also... is it just me or does this book mischaracterize value investing when it defines fundamentalism? Fundamental investors who invest based on projected earnings aren't value investors, they're speculators.

Am I not the audience for this book? Or is it garbo? Or am I just an idiot millennial who requires too much evidence in my arguments?
