I used to work in Sydney and I earned a pretty good living by Australian standards, and when my company went WFH, my salary stayed the same and the workload actually became far easier. Since the rent and cost of living in Sydney is absurd, I canceled my rent and I went somewhat into the outback to a rural town with less than 1000 people. I still get the same salary, but I pocket so much more of my money now. Also, the internet is generally better out here since it isn't too bottlenecked, unlike Sydney internet. The only downside is that online shopping takes about 3x longer. Do you know those funny memes about Australian wildlife being dangerous? Well, there are actually lethal snakes that are always in close proximity to my compound.
