Market makers are supposed to move the price to where liqudity is
In crypto, however, they only move the price up, and keep it there for extended amount of time, even when buyers are scarce. Rarely do market makers attempt to find liquidity at lower prices. Usually price only drops when a massive outside whale sells.

They can do this because
1. It costs them nothing. Wash trading is offchain, so theres no fees. 90%+ binance volume are just binance bots passing bitcoin and tether back & forth

2. The exchanges collude with each other. Those exchanges that dont play along with the scam are ganged up on and get shut down quickly.

conclusion: crypto is a scam
