Crypto to crypto is a taxable event. So if you want to put your stack in a liquidity pool you need exchange 50% of it into ETH. This is a taxable event. However, what if you used a DeFi dashboard like Zapper that swaps for you in the 'background' does all of that for you. Would you still need to claim the 50% swap?
