The graph at the bottom is great. It shows that children in the bottom quintile of wealth who score above the 86th percentile on the Armed Forces Qualification Test (aptitude-based test that essentially measures IQ) have an almost 100% of moving out of the bottom wealth quintile.
Adoption studies of identical twins also show they usually end up in the same income decile, irrespective of adoptive family's wealth.
