I live in Malta. Loads of things go cash here and 500 and 200 notes go round all the time.

My gf collects traffic fines for the government. People pay with them all the time.

They have a 300 fine for drunk driving or whatever... they pay with a 500 note and get a 200 note back.

Also car sales. I've seen people buying second hand cars cash in hand on the street. 3000/5000 cash in large notes.

Also construction work. you want a new roof on your property ? most likely the contractor demands cash payment, otherwise he won't do the job.

Also there is a lidl here (supermarket chain) people buy in bulk and pay with large notes as they don't allow card payments there (due to high fraud risk)
