I can relate. I make about half of what you do and the job is actually challenging/stimulating to an extent, but I do feel the affects of the golden handcuffs. It’s becoming hard for me to keep the routine I’d like. I’m getting high and smoking pot too early and frequently during the day. I get outside everyday, walk my dog, ride my bike, hang out on my deck, but it can get to be like watching paint dry. But I tell myself it’s better than working in a facility. I hate corporate America and water cooler talk and commuting and dressing up. Hate it. So I will continue on this path, somewhat begrudgingly I guess.

ya technically not that expensive. The thing people care more about others than they do themselves. I could live in a 1bed room apt with a mattress on the floor. Do I want that for my kids and wife tho? I want the nice minivan for them. I want them to have their own rooms. I want them to be around other wealthy people so their friends aren't shitty. I want my wife to feel safe when she goes to the park with the kids. When I was single I got robbed at gun point and kept living in the area for years. I can put up with a lot and live in shit. I want so much more than I ever did before having a family. Easy to be sardonic nihilist when its just your life at stake. Start taking responsbility for other people's lives and your tune will change. Its weird, have kids and suddenly you don't want the world to explode tomorrow. Not that it cures depression, its just really selfish to want the world to burn with your children in it. I stopped thinking oh fuck it I'll just kill myself constantly once I had kids. Not because they filled me with joy, but because how the fuck could I even consider that now as an option?

its usually $50-70/day if you're extended stay meaning its around $1200/month almost the same as an apartment (LOL JK apartments are $1400+ now)

I use to think oh all I need is X amount of money and I can fund this or that hobby/project/idea. Now I have money and no ideas or motivation. I think to myself. oh all I need is X amount of money then I can retire. If I make it, I'll probably kill myself. How do I profit from this?

We spend about 5k a month on bills this includes 1k on day care. Having 2nd kid soon, that will basically be 2k. Price of day care goes down as they get older, and ya mine goes to church/school day care type thing. Not some shitty hole in the wall filled with negress. If we were to live in a nice area it would be 3.5k a month mortgage and probably more expensive day care. I am planning to wait as long as I can to buy a house in good area. Then kids can go to public school and we save on not having to pay day care anymore.


we pay my brother in laws mortgage that he started in like 2015, so our "rent" is 1.7k . My wife wfh and has been mostly use to me being unemployed failed comedian. Finished my degree at 32 and 2 years later now I make 6 figs wfh mostly. We only live off of her income basically and I save mine. Live in low cost city for the most part, its not the ghetto or mexico town, but it could be a lot whiter and quieter. I am aiming for when my kids are about ~7 to be the time I really need to upgrade our surroundings.

Please believe me I am not trying to demoralize. I have an extra 5k a month I have been saving for 9 months. Its nice to have the cash laying around but nothing has changed. In 5 years I could have 300k in which I use 100k for down payment on house and move away from gun shots. Other than that there's 0 life style change. I want financial independence, and starting your own company seems like a shit show. Often you make more money just keeping the wfh job. Im mid 30s been broke my whole life. Now every paycheck I get increasing my checking account to more money than I've ever seen. Still feel broke and its could all go away easily. The only thing that makes me feel not broke is when people who have less get jealous. I bought a friends painting for 1.5k to help him out he gave me a hug and really appreciated it. Other than shit like that nothing has really changed.

Im trailer trash that might be able to one day make it. How do I escape my class shackles. My family history has always been broke. My wife's family is successful, lawyers, doctors. I've met one millionaire through them, he was cool dude in his 30s. He inherited it.

think all i would "need" is 2mil. Even at 1mil I could quit my job and continue current standard and cost of living. More accurately 750k would be just enough and I have a family. Live in major city in the south. I would keep working or time managing my assets and buying businesses. 1-2mil would change my life but not my standard of living really. Once I had 10 mil then things get interesting. 1 mil is certainly a lot of money but I guess its not a lot. if you thought you could fly on personal jets the rest of your life with it. 750k-1mil would give me fuck you I can quit this job money. Not that I necessarily would I'd probably get fired for being a dick though.

its basic common sense stuff. Getting out of a poor person mindset mostly. Saving money is retarded, just need to make more money. Lying on my resume has been the most helpful. I also use to be deathly afraid of credit cards I would take auto title loans all the time instead. I always paid them off but the rates were insane. I would listen to other people (parents) about finance and debt. They were generally wrong. If I had invested very small amounts of money into things I wanted like AMD and BTC I would have had an extra 50k or more easily. Being able to have 50k isn't "life changing" but it is actually. Now you have a nice chunk to invest and don't feel like a complete loser. Just getting some wins in would have given me confidence to carry through on more investments and being able to hold. My dad said investing was worthless unless it was 1k. I had $300 to spare and could have invested that and it would have been enough. Basically you need to find friends that aren't idiots and come from some amount of money. They might still be idiots when it comes to what to invest in but they still know how to hold. They don't see 10k-50k as a lot of money and neither should you.

A lot of my problems stemmed from issues with my mother. Which led to shitty relationships with women that drained my money. Drop shitty deadbeat friends, and drop shitty women draining your money and sanity. Unless your parents are successful they have no idea wtf they are talking about. Even if they are take what they say with a grain of salt.
