anon, chainlink is a proportional share in the network upon which global decentralized banking and finance will operate. why on earth would you think that a normie payment app offers more value?

it's not really any great mystery.

a single digit percentage of people in the world are invested in crypto and among those invested probably only a single digit percentage could tell you what a smart contract even is. among those people that know what a smart contract is probably only a single digit percentage are aware of the oracle problem. what chainlink is an what it offers to the world is a niche problem, within a niche protocol, within a niche speculative bubble. most people who are heavily into crypto likely couldn't tell you what eos, ripple, tron, or even ethereum even do or what they might offer. most people within this space just gamble on whatever is the most visible, whatever has the most hype.

if you understand this it's hard to be concerned about the price or ranking. leave worrying about stuff like that to day trading scum.

I don't throw this old pasta since some months ago, but here you go:

1.

Smart contracts are basically pieces of software that can oversee and execute a trade, without any third party having to press the “trade” button. So if we want to trade, say, 1000 LINK for 10 ETH, a smart contract can “look” to see that we have both put up our ends, and when we have, it automatically performs the swap. It’s great because we can never rip each other off (the swap only happens when both sides have fronted) and we don’t need a third party to do the swap for us and take fees.

But smart contracts are limited at the moment because they can only perform swaps for very specific things, and that is, things that are coded in terms the smart contract can understand. For example, an Ethereum smart contract can trade LINK for ETH because it can “see” both of those things on the Ethereum blockchain. But it hits a wall when we want to trade, say, ETH for a concert ticket. The concert ticket isn’t coded in a way that Ethereum can natively understand, so there is no way for the smart contract to know that it is a legit, non-cancellable, version.

This is where oracles come in. An Oracle is a company which has recently appeared in the smart contract space, whose job it is to translate data into a form that a smart contract can understand. So, you could hire an Oracle to program your concert ticket in a form that could be read by the smart contract, so that the smart contract could properly execute a trade when you have fronted the ticket, and they have fronted a couple of ETH.

Imagine: a firm that imports and sells idustrial electronics from China to X. You got an exchange where X residents can create SC with desired specifications. Chinese producers look through it and pick the orders they can carry out.
Shipment is followed with another SC.
If smt happens with the shipment, the transporter's SC pays out the inssurance
Once the shipment is received, buyer's money is released from escrow and goes to the seller.
Then the firm guarrantees the transport from the harbor to the client.
Some other supply chain pr oracle can cover that.
As a result, so many middlemen get cut off.

You run a factory, and ypu want to buy a vibration/dust/temperature resistent computer. Right now you have to either fund your own subdivision to manage import or outsource it to some middleman.
Anyway, you have to pay ppl in logistics dept, hr, managers, purchases dept, a paralegal or a whole legal dept
Once you can cut those expenses, you get so much funds to expand operation.

With decentralised corps in place humankind might even be able to build the good kind of communism.
Perhaps, even accounting can be completely replaced by SC, but I dont see that happening anytime soon for smaller businesses, as almost all of them are forced to pull accounting tricks notto default.
