Yes. Fakes are mostly a problem with numismatics where value is attached to factors other than metal content and so easier and more lucrative to fake. Buying bullion from a reputable dealer is almost fool proof.

If you can't outsmart a smash-and-grab crackhead, you probably are not going too make it anyway. It is WAY easier to protect against theft by street criminals than by institutions like government and banks. Your home, your securities, your bank account, your pension, your registered vehicles, all can be confiscated with the stroke of a pen and you can't do a damn thing about it.

Imagine if a real stacker actually had this happen. He would post every fucking detail - who he bought it from, when, how, how it was detected, what he did about it, how the seller responded, etc. This is some really low-effort fud.
