OP, disregard your sense of entitlement and do things better for your own kids.

My grandmother just passed away. In fact the funeral was yesterday. Now, she had two houses and obviously there’s an inheritence to split between her three children - one of whom is my father. I recently got a kid myself and in order to secure his future we MUST move away from the city (immigrants and crime on the rise, mandatory muggings etc). We sure could use some of that inheritance...

But my father is a... well, I love the guy, but he’s been to prison, got fines to pay, got debt, spends all his welfare on God knows what... all that money will go straight to the state because of his actions, or he’ll most probably throw it away. Sometimes when he spent all his money he’ll call me for help. It’s okay, though.
But when I think of his brothers and their kids and I realize they’ll actually pass along some of their wealth, and I think of my son, that’s when I have trouble accepting this, and I feel some slight anger.
In the end, it doesn’t matter. Money is a very dirty thing for the soul. That I should feel contempt for my father, without whom I would not be here, and feel jealousy when looking at my uncles? Man, that’s the real sin right there.

I love my father. Life is short, parents are dumb - no time for negative feelings. No time for greed. If all enlightened men who ever lived are right, what we take with us when we die are not material possessions, but our WANTS - and in this context, a lack of wants, a lack of greed and negative habitual tendencies based in the ego, is true wealth. True, actual true, wealth.

Be happy you’re even alive, and get rid of that emotional bagage. That’s true warrior stuff right there. It’s the hardest battle and the most important, and it never ends.

Personally I put away money every month for my kid. I could never imagine to not do this.
