Well, I will put it like this. Comptia doesn’t really teach you anything it’s valuable as in it sort of gets your feet wet but in terms of actually skills you just learn a ton of buzz words and really diluted concepts. This is the problem that I have with those type of certs. The issue that I am having is that they know my certs are better and I could easily do the job but that makes me look overqualified. Were as other jobs I may have the skills to do the position but my experience is really limited and I am sure I get dinged for not yet having a degree.

>In short I am getting really good positions, I have limited experience and no degree I pass the resume check but they I never get past first interview. Whenever I try to get just a simple help desk position, They realize they can’t sell me on how their company is so great and basically working in a call center is considered I.T since they are I have skills + experience to basically recognize it’s a shit position.

So, in some ways I wish I took Comptia because I would be doing better more but it would be harder for me to do better in the future. We’re as I am kinda struggling now but it is reasonably easy for me to do better.

>Not sure if I communicated this effectively so feel free to ask for clarification but that is my 0.02 cents since I think a lot of I.T career advice is given by idiots in low skilled positions and there isn’t enough exposure to ‘real’ I.T job market.
