Cardano exists because the list in pic related keeps growing.
They want to go the extra mile to prevent that, even if it takes longer time. Ethereum likes to move fast and break stuff.
>Just roll back the ledger!
No, fuck that. Get it right the first time.

Are there any truly revolutionary dapps or defi currently though? It's still early days speculation. Competing with pic related wont be hard for Algorand and Cardano.

>if your project needs to buy people off to be interested, what happens when the money runs out?
EOS raised $4 BILLION. #15
Cardano raised $60 million. #6
It's not the quantity, it's the quality. Barely any other project does as rigorous research as Cardano. Everything is peer reviewed and formally verified.
>inb4 peer review and formal verification is a meme
Doesn't completely stop pic related from happening, but it goes the extra mile to at least try and prevent it.

>what happens when the money runs out?
That's literally the point of the Treasury on Cardano. A certain % of transaction fees gets deposited to the treasury.

>Cardano is just a testnet for Ethereum.
Everything on Ethereum is testnet-tier. Cardano wants to get it right. The KEVM dev net is also live since some days ago.
https://developers.cardano.org/en/virtual-machines/kevm/about/kevm-testnet-support/
KEVM ≈ Solidity with formal verification.

A short list from 2016 to 2018. Read somewhere that Ethereum has on average 100 bugs per 1000 lines of code. Microsoft has 15 per 1000. NASA has 0 per 500 000 in shuttles and space station. I wonder where Cardano falls, from it's heavy use of formal verification.

It was exciting, but was eclipsed by Cardano. I do think the implementation of smart contracts is amazing, but pic related happened too often. Cardano at least tries their utmost to limit this happening, by spending a lot of extra time getting it right. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CTNS2D-kbY

Right now it's basically Proof of stake Bitcoin, written in Haskell. Soon™ it will have smart contracts and ERC-20 support, extensive governance with the largest DAO in the world and 1 million TPS.

>>23867930
It beat Ethereum to PoS. 51% byzantine resistance PoS at that. ETH 2.0 is only 33%. ETH 2.0 won't have smart contracts in a long time. Cardano will start rolling that out this month, mainnet march 2021.
