It's about 25% of my annual income on average. How much you need is sort of jumping the gun a bit. I could say oh you need 250k or whatever for a realistic shot at something approaching a stable income but that's iffy. You have to put together a strategy and arrive at estimates about how much return you believe you can consistently achieve with it on an annual basis regardless of market conditions. Earning an income from trading is more about a lot of small wins, break evens, not too many losers. Often it does comes down to a couple really nice trades at the end of the year but finding the good trade isn't the goal. Getting in to good trades is a product of sound strategy. Most of them are going to underwhelm but every once in a while you get the runner. You never know which is the runner. It's rarely the movie thing where you have genius idea to invest in some bullshit that turns out to be a goldmine. More you invest in your usual shit and sometimes fortune smiles upon you.
