We never leave, and /b/ was never good. I’m feeling nostalgic today, so here’s my story for any newfags who want to know what it was like:

I read about BTC mining on /g/ back in early 2012 but was too poorfag to afford a pc to mine, and my supposedly smart ivy-league friends talked me out of sending my bank info to sketchy exchanges for "buying a ponzi scheme" when I failed to explain to them how blockchains worked. Who the fuck is Satoshi anyway? Cypherpunks sound based but there was some CIA fuckery going on with Gavin Andresen. I lurked for a year as BTC prices went insane, saw some small exchanges like Vircurex get hacked, then watched the Mt. Gox implosion charts live from my laptop in my college rec room and immediately registered with Coinbase Jan 2014, but those retards fucked up my verification so I had to buy my first BTC on VirWox(lol) instead. I gpu pool-mined scrypt coins like Dogecoin, Litecoin and Potcoin on my gf’s video editing pc through 2014 for fun, and laughed at all the shitcoin shilling for trash projects like "Monero" and “Feathercoin.” Also won a few BTC from poker on Sealswithclubs and used it to buy “supplements” from the darknet. Some guy cloned satoshidice for Doge, so I staked all my mined coins in there since it paid out at an insane compounding 1% house edge and forgot about them. Crypto markets died down for a bit, save for occasional news about exchanges getting hacked, so real life took a front seat and I didn’t watch charts as closely, but in 2015, a friend-of-a-friend told me that he had insider info that Darkcoin was rebranding to Dash, and to buy a bunch since I was the only person he knew with verified exchange accounts. During this time I spent too much time fighting with my gf, completed my degree and started a new job, so I didn’t hear from him again until late 2016, when he offered to pay me in something called “Eth” to write research reports on a new thing called "ICOs."
