I have a theory that Tether largely mirrors the dynamics of the global economy. Barring minor factors, the economy (including crypto) is global and most entities like central banks operate in synchronicity. Tether's significant money printing reflects, maybe with some lag or even in advance, the global economy's money printing trends. This occurs as interest rates begin to decline, with pressure for further reductions, opening up more capital flows in the broader economy, so I expect the pace to become even faster in the following years.
My prediction is that Tether will collapse, but it will be some side effect of a major black swan event that will collapse huge parts of the economy, crypto and traditional alike.

If you require permission from the government to transact in a specific currency, you're as mentioned by this gentleman >>58982337, cucked by definition.
In all seriousness, many places do accept monero. If you're part of the vanguard, you can't simply sit and wait for the world to suddenly become monero-friendly. Have you reached out to your service providers to ask if they can accept monero? Have you contacted your local grocery store to inquire about accepting monero?

>say if a coin comes out with a privacy feature that's objectively superior than what monero uses. can the monero development team just steal ideas from other coins and add it to their own? if monero team decides their the current levels of privacy they tolerate aren't enough, can they copy a feature from zcash, or is everything strictly copyrighted?

Absolutely, Monero undergoes regular hardforks and is constantly being upgraded. All new developments are audited, tested and eventually incorporated into the codebase.

Monero. A rallying cry for freedom, defense against the overbearing state, a shield from corporate surveillance. It symbolizes all good things and underlying principles that made the internet great. Get some and get comfy.

It is important not to underestimate human nature of wanting to be free. The deep web does not exist as a huge honeypot. It exists because there are people who want to consume information and products like drugs and weapons, which are not accepted within the society where they live. I think it is irresponsible to imagine that "pedophiles and international traffickers" are, in total equivalence, the government and law enforcement agencies.
This post >>29049630 doesn't specifically talk about paying taxes, it goes deeper into the idea that regardless of what you do, it's impossible to have monero and not be a known entity at the same time. I reject such a statement because it's not true.
>>29055712
And about paying taxes, honestly, if you don't have a citizenship in a place where you can withdraw your cryptocurrencies paying as little as possible, it's important to start considering the option. Otherwise, simply bear the consequences of paying what is due for you to live in whatever society you are without problems. This is considering if you bought XMR on an exchange with KYC and sold for capital gains, which is completely normal and acceptable, and people here clearly understand that entities, private and governmental, know THIS fact specifically... What happens with the XMR next no one will know (if you're smart).

For me, it's the only one that has a true, honest magical spark. You know, like the Internet when it was fun and free.
Many developers will work on Monero only by convictions, not for money.

I wish I was smart enough to really contribute to Monero. I'm a developer, but I'm far from being qualified enough to contribute to this insane and beautiful project that may change history...

For the very smart people out there, mathematicians and hardcore developers, Monero is, in my humble opinion, a project that may allow you to leave your mark forever. Please considere contributing.
