are there any job opportunities that someone in U.S. can do remote

one of my friends is on welfare hard (USA); social security disability, food stamps, section 8, all of it. makes about $1k or so per month from this. however he's trying to save up some money to get his driver's license and stuff like that. he's home 24/7. i gave him an old laptop i had and he has wifi and all that

the issue is he can't get paid through his identity because if he gets any verifiable income he loses all of his benefits

any ideas? only thing i could find was doing surveys online for bitcoin but that pay is kind of shit
