You misread what he said, he doesnt have 25k, he makes 25k/year net. And buying a 100K duplex is better financially than renting, buying a single family, or even staying at home with mommy and daddy (although buying a duplex AND staying at home with mommy and daddy at the same time is the most supreme option). Buying a duplex is exactly increasing your income, and its mostly passive to boot (if you get the right house/tenants).
