Wef literally wishes to have digital biometric ID based on blockchain because it is decentralized and therefore more robust to hack attacks.

That's what holy "blockchain" really brings to the table, the fact you can't merely hack into a server to collect all the data.
Ironically it's big centralized companies that will end up using decentralized data tech to offset costs on data storage by outsourcing it to peers in the network.
