So during the Dot Com bubble, was there a "King" to crypto's Bitcoin? Did it hold the market the entire time or was it overtaken before the top of the bubble?

To me, I think Bitcoin needs to fuck off and die and this correction is healthy (although extremely painful). Although in order for us to recover in any meaningful way, we need many many more trading pairs. ETH, XMR, BCH, ect.
