XRP is a settlement asset. Payments are easy and cheap and any pajeet software can facilitate them. Settlements are hard and at the moment they are basically via crate of cash on a plane.

Digital assets make sense for immediate settlement. It's like gold you can ship anywhere in 4s. The speed of finality is really important to avoid exposure to exchange losses.
