Poor fags understandably get this this wrongly. Especially if they have no context with the rest of the book. Jesus was speaking in hyperbole just like with his “plank in the eye” and “swallowing a camel” quote. The rabbis at the time did preach that riches and wealth were a sign that a man was favored by God. Jesus blew this notion out of the water and thus incurred the ire of the established religious order of the time. The kingdom of heaven is open to both the rich and the poor. This of course is not an excuse to be a bum your whole life. That is just wasting the talents that god has bestowed on all his children.
