currently working on finding an independent chan for us. have a bud who is planning on starting up a freedom of speech centered, laissez-faire moderation type imageboard.
dunno what hes using for front-end, but if he uses the one he had last time, it would be one of the best chans in regards to site features, embed options and filesize limits

go read the /qa/ thread.
he seems to backpedal somewhat and say that its only going to be an "option" for phones. but the execution is so sloppy, one can extrapolate that this is a beta for the new default layout. not to mention it will obviously break all existing extensions like clover etc...
why offer an "option" for something thats more shit than the existing one? unless it is to be eventually forced?

and all that aside, i simply dont take his one word posts at face value due to his history with 2ch. this is starting to really feel like a complete rerun of what happened to 2ch when he owned it still (picrel). what i see as a possible outcome is that he forces it via loading the regular incarnation with shit ads like 2ch. also, selling emails has ALWAYS been his scam

this site can, and should, burn for all i care (tho /smg/ is the exception to this imo)
that said, im more worried of the effect that this will have on ALL other alternative chans out there. especially ones geared towards free speech. if this ends up being realized the size of the exodus could be enough to completely destroy/dilute all of the existing free speech chans. redditors cannot handle freedom of speech and will ALWAYS cry mods until the site gets cucked again. and the mods will listen because they will be the majority of traffic
