Yes I do appreciate it, thanks for sharing and letting us know that amazing Abrahamic objects like that exist.
>I was mainly looking to bag a melt value bargain
Any luck in your hunt for cheapies? I was watching a poorly listed batch of cutlery in the UK that ended yesterday, probably about 36-40 chunky hallmarked sterling dinner forks and soup spoons I'd estimate weighed between 2.2-2.5kg, no mention of sterling in title or description so I thought it might fly under the radar and go cheap but it sold for 920 GBP or around $1,100, definitely below melt but not cheap enough for me. Even with the cost of shipping to the USA I've scooped up some good deals from English sellers but it doesn't happen too often. I get the impression that competition in the UK for your antique sterling is very robust, probably because the obnoxious VAT on silver bullion makes hoarding antique sterling an appealing stacking strategy, do you have any insights about that hunch?

I was pleased to count 45 pieces of flatware in Wallace's "Orchid Elegance" pattern made from 1956-1960 instead of the 39 advertised in the eBay listing, the solid sterling pieces weigh 1,181g and the handles of the 15 knives add approximately another 236g, for a total of 1,417g of sterling with a melt value of $942 last I checked. It cost $212 shipped including tax, so that comes out to $5.03/ozt asw for 42.14 ozt of pure silver, my best score so far this year but more and better are certain to show up.
