Talk to any enlisted vet; you will not make it to 20 without significantly reducing your lifespan due to health complications. The only reason the government can afford the retiree plan is because these people don't live nearly as long as civilians. Also they cut the 20year thing sometime in the mid2010s, you'll get less than any of those guys by 10% I think.
