You think we're going to all be trading pieces of 8 for fucking gas? When people talk about using PMs as real money again, they're talking about making the currency actually backed by gold again.

Also, it's not the only money but it is the best money. It meets all of the criteria better than anything, with crypto being a close second. There have been gold/silver resets throughout history after economies wandered away from them.
