there's something very metaphorical, allegorical, about tomorrow's nfc championship matchup between the san francisco 49ers and the detroit lions. the phrasing alone evokes the situation, "san francisco 49ers," a name synonymous with glory, success, and perennial achievement, and then you have "detroit lions," a punchline, an insult, a label no one wants placed upon them. indeed detroit's dejected, underdog baggage has attracted to it the hopes of america's working class like a corpse attracts flies. as such, i expect every aristocratic /biz/raeli to support the san francisco side, and cheer as the versatility and wisdom of capital overmasters the brutish enthusiasm of labor.
