The entire reason the banks are in trouble is due to rate hikes. That's what caused bond prices to fall. The Fed has a choice: continue to raise rates and cause additional stresses on bank balance sheets, which then require even more new money to backstop through the new 'TARP' they just announced; or accept inflation, pivot, and perhaps contain the size of the 'backstop'. Since there are likely trillions of dollars in derivatives that rely on those bond prices not falling, I expect the Fed will take the second option. That still might not be enough to stave off the results of some big boys being on the wrong side of derivative trades.

Well hypothetically you could use it to do things like host decentralized websites and frontends for Daaps, thus removing the centralized point of failure the actual web interface represents. They'd be connecting buyers (people who want to host sites) with sellers (people who have free processing power they want to monetize). They'd be taking a duopoly (cloudfare + AWS) and turning that into an open market where price discovery can take place.

That's my angle on it anyways. Again, not a comfy hold because I suspect link will make it redundant one way or another.
