You say "decreased significantly" but can you get an actual number? You know, some evidence to back that up? And then get at least one more number. Or ideally a chart over time. So we can compare how much funding is going to NASA today vs in the past in absolute inflation adjusted dollars.
If you really care about these issues, you must get the facts. Otherwise you are not thinking, you are relying on feelings. That is: you are relying on monkey-instincts of fear and scarcity which evolved to keep you alive on the Savannah. Not relevant in the modern world of technology.
