crashes don't happen "naturally." If the conditions for a crash are in place, they need a triggering event or events. In this case, it was Coronavirus and its impact on economic activity and the government response.

Since the severity of the 2008 crash was so scarring, there's a good chance policy makers still would have taken advantage of that to print money and create "stimulus" to encourage a v shaped recovery, and to transfer wealth to the top .00001%

Because coronavirus and the shutdown, there were no perceived bad actors like there was in 2008, so this time there is less public backlash and the politicians can grab even more cash for them and their friends.
