Here's a scrap bin dollar that I advised my dad to buy earlier today, an otherwise nice 1881-S Morgan that was crudely engraved "Vegas '57" and thus too damaged to command a normal numismatic premium. I thought it was a cool piece of Las Vegas gambling history and suspect it was one of the nicest dollars that poured out of a slot machine when the owner hit the jackpot (most slot machine dollars were pretty worn down by the latter '50s) and then kept as a memento of their win. For $17.25 it's hard to go wrong, and I'm sure a collector of Vegas gambling related stuff would pay a worthwhile premium for it even though most numismatists wouldn't.

Neither can that LCS owner who used to work for a coin grading/slabbing company, which is why they scrap so much material that could easily be sold at a premium elsewhere.
