Checked and you touch on another curious notion: the consumerist drive and how it harms romance. Dating used to be like a tiny adventure: you'd meet someone in some random happenstance, you'd build up enough courage to approach them and risk rejection, engage in courtship, and possibly get married. Now you just scroll through an endless parade of sluts swiping right until you "match" with some lunatic for anonymous sex. The entire experience is packaged in this sterile way so that the relationship can be disposed of immediately after use, like a condom. As such, you never really "fall" in love. There is no *eros* in the experience. It's just an extension of online shopping where you "buy" people whom you treat like objects, and they in turn treat you like an object, a commodity.
