Guys, I could use some help with the IRS.

I'm from Germany and I've earned some income on a crowdsourcing platform. As it is an American company and the work is done on an American server, I assumed that I had to file taxes in the US, which I did. The German tax office however insisted that I pay these taxes in Germany because that's where I'm based in.

Now the thing is, the IRS still wants my money, although I've already paid my taxes in Germany. I've called the IRS but they didn't really seem too eager to help me and just told me to send them a letter with my concern. So I've sent them my German tax return together with the paragraph of the German-US tax treaty that states that I can't be double taxed for the same income.

They never replied to my letter, instead I received another payment reminder yesterday. I really don't know what else to do, basically I just want to cancel my tax declaration entirely.

did you really believe that you don't have to pay taxes?
we are currently evaluating data from other exchanges. it just takes abit longer to sort out us citiziens.

but like honestly what even is the actual point of the IRS? not gonna be that retard that just says its thievery, which it probably is anyway, but what do they do beside collect taxes from people alpha enough to make millions?
