This. I didn't get serious about making money until 32, when I got my first actual tech job (having only worked total shit tech jobs, every three years or so, always quitting after 3-7 months). Now, at 34, at my second dev job I'm making $100k a year, with only $1k a month expenses, able to invest 80% of my income.

As a result work full time, save, invest for five years, then move to part time for another 5 years, then retire.

This is my plan, and thanks to only $1k expenses a month, but $100k income, I only have to work full time for 5 years, then 5 more years part time, while I leave my invested savings untouched to grow, then I can retire. This is after spending my entire 20's fucking around traveling, living a semi crusty life, only working sometimes, part time, etc., too.
