Premiums were going up anyway without a reboot of the system. Capitalism demands it.
Have you ever needed to claim something in the 200k, 500k+ range on insurance? Pre-ACA they would make up some "pre-existing condition" (i.e. you had a kid via cesarean section, how scandalous!) and would just drop you and your whole family.
Good luck paying for that.
