they've been weary for a long time most likely. left standing at the top of a peak of success, death will be a bliss for hedgies. a life with nothing but success after success will be ending for them soon, and once that happens it wont be able to intoxicate them anymore. they need to accept the new paradigm out to replace them, but they find it impossible to do. hedgies still live in pain, but as long as they keep living and trying to escape death chasing them at their heels they will be like a giant snake burning alive, writhing around in agony. their only option is to accept the meaningless death their life has arranged for them. the outcome of this gamble.

hedgies still don't understand, the true essence of the gamble isn't about the money, though that element is necessary. it's about seeing the person in front of you die a meaningless death from the gamble itself. because they don't understand this fundamental concept of the gamble, they cannot ever hope to come close to winning.
