go look it up dude. the vast majority of people in the military are doing shit like being a clerk or a mechanic or something. the GI bill is $250k of educational benefit. shit, i MADE 40k a year off the living stipend and scholarship refunds when i was going to school on it. i'm also %40 """"disabled"""" because i laid my bike down on the PCH one night and tweaked my knee (lol im fine). on top of that i have hiring preference, pay lower property taxes, and get a free blooming onion every veterans day. all because i spent 5 years traveling the world and fucking off on the governments dime. pic related, after we got done laying that concrete pad we got drunk with the thai marines and played soccer.
