what are you gonna do today /biz/?

hey /biz/ I think I'm gonna take a month or longer off from work and then switch careers. I've been working 80 hours per week working hard on my feet for almost 4 years now. How would you spend this 1 month (or longer)? I'm thinking about a little getaway but I'm not sure where to, I can afford whatever I guess as long as it's not crazy

I was thinking about getting away for a week or so and then spending some time at home just selling some belongings that have been gathering dust, remembering what it's like to have free time, catch up on some things, talk to some girls.. what would you do with yourself?

today I started thinking a lot about my plans and I've already got a million things going through my head and I'm wondering what you would do

I worked in kitchens for 2 years. AM prep cooking was ok because it was the same routine everyday and I was out the door by 2.
I got promoted to line cook and it only took me a few weeks to fucking hate it all. Go in everyday, bust my ass, get screamed at relentlessly for the tiniest fuck up because everyone else is miserable too, come home covered in 3 kinds of shit. Repeat.

One day I woke up and thought I was late. It made my heart race because they would lose it if you showed up 5 minutes after your start. It was actually 3 hours before the shift started.

I thought about how dreadful it all was when the quote from pic related popped into my head. A man chooses, a slave obeys. I went back to sleep and woke up 5 hours into my shift. That was how I left the restaurant business.

I took a week off and then found another job. These days, I work in the machine trades.

If you want to carry on with food in a more relaxed environment, shoot for private clubs with regulars and no walk-ins.
