Pro tip; buy verge. You might think it’s a dumb idea now but once it hits normies, you’ll be regretting it :)

ok listen up. I can’t handle retards talking about LINK token and node economics, because almost everyone gets it entirely ass-backwards.

stop saying that the effective market cap will be lower because tokens will be locked up in nodes. the market cap will be almost entirely defined by the value of the LINK in nodes. here’s how it goes:

1. collateral that is required for an oracle job is taken out of the node contract, and only returned at the succesful completion of the job.
2. the value of the collateral that is required will presumably be related to the financial value of the consuming contract, scaled by some factor for the perceived risks, potential for disagreement, and avenues for bystanders to profit by tampering.
3. this gets multiplied by the number of nodes required to service the job.
4. if there is not enough collective value in unstaked tokens available on qualifying nodes to service profitable contracts, then the price of LINK tokens in the market will be bid up until this equilibrium is reached.
5. the market cap floor of the available supply (everything which is available to be used, so in principle everything outside of the dev wallets + exchanges) is therefore set by the total risk-adjusted value of the smart contracts being serviced.
6. speculative potential may drive the price higher than this actual-use floor.
7. if speculative demand wildly outpaced the use-value that node operators had in the present, allowing even small LINK stakes to easily capitalise their jobs, then guess what, their tokens would magically become available for sale.

On the bright side, our ARK is now permanently a tiny bit more value than before.
