Get your wife into "Re-Wilding". Let your lawn become a meadow. Its beneficial too all sorts of animals, rabbits birds, bees, the groundwater et al. You can even get a small sign like pic related so your neighbors know why you're doing it. If you dont have an HOA (you shouldnt they're evil) there is nothing anyone can do.
Will save you money too. No gas, no wasted time, no harmful fertilizer or glyphosate and your wife will get to see thumper & bambi every day.
