So tell me biz, what the hell is this 10y treasury note and why does all the finance people in the magazines talk about it?

I dont think I'm the only one lurking here that doesn't understand this one.
returns are gauranteed, so you would only buy one if it outstripped inflation?

I'm invested a lot of my short-term cash into a money market account paying an SEC Yield of 2.31% I'm considering switching over to a short-term treasury bond ETF with an SEC yield of 2.38%.

The money market fund never fluctuates in its price, and the chances of it losing money are highly unlikely. The price per share of the ETF is slightly sensitive to interest rate changes. However, the default risk is negligible compared to the money market fund.

Given these two options, which one would be a better place to park cash I intend on using within the next 3 years?
