I don't understand how finances work in any way, shape, or form. Personal, public, insurance, investing it's all magic. The words and the flow of money make no sense. How do you break down this massive subject into manageable bits for the low IQ people of the world? I just want my money to work for me

I was reading bernie sanders website and went to the free college section. It doesn't matter to me because I don't have college debt but I saw something about a wall street speculation tax. It basically puts a tax on the transaction itself and would have little impact on normal citizens that trade stocks (50c on every 100 dollars of stock trade). Ignoring that the point would be free college which I think is stupid, how is a tax on trading a bad thing? I don't understand anything about economics or stocks
