Our mistake was to assume Bitcoin and Bitcoin alone could win. We didn't think our enemies would subvert Bitcoin the way they did and change the rules. They used mass censorship and propaganda to persuade the masses that high fees and payment processors are actually how Bitcoin works. They dangled Lightning Network in front of them as some bullshit solution. The fact that LN doesn't even work is irrelevant because they've already corralled everyone into accepting massive fees and using middlemen for payments (nobody moves BTC off exchanges anymore).

Overcoming this will actually be the hardest (and greatest) thing we will have ever done. We must defeat the (((bankers))).
