This has been asked here and in the telegram and Rory's answer is always "Yes, it's how it works and contracts will have to take it into account." I'm talking about the future volatility of LINK. And yes there will be great volatility, especially at launch and in the first months or even years the network is live.

It's a pretty obvious problem and there doesn't seem to be a good counter for it, the Chainlink concept as it is, is just flawed. Parties that want to initiate contracts and connect them to correct data through a Chainlink will have big issues with deciding on the collateral simply because of volatility. I'll try to explain to the brainlets using a green text story example.

>smart contract that pays out sports betting winnings
>nodes put up collateral, let's say 1000 LINK each
>LINK price at 50$
>FUD, whale cashing out, whatever, financial crisis
>price drops to 10$
>collateral not as valuable as possible profit from corruption
>neet node operators place huge bets on the 11/1 underdog and rig the output
>win more money than they lose
>nice consensus you've got there

I'm not trying to FUD, please discuss and resolve this issue because I can't think of a way. Especially long term contracts like insurance will fucking suffer and be useless or at the mininum extremely unreliable. I am a marine myself with the mandatory 10k stack and I want this to work out. Am I missing something?
