i know im trying to plan now for what would happen in that event. i keep running across shit like pic related and its got me spooked. the huge bank selloff the other week got me thinking, and when i checked eurobanks like DB etc i noticed how fucking terrible they were as well. i see weakness in financials overall.

trying to figure out a backup plan in the event of a really big panic

>I don't think you can do well with bonds in a rate hike environment
yeah me neither. that other guys advice is sound if we were in any other type of FED environment though. but i just do long puts and calls (normally ATM or ITM) on the leveraged bond ETFs
>Also, I don't fully get straddles. Do you just buy OTM on both calls and puts?
straddles you buy a call and put on the same strike. strangles are my favorite (atleast on things that move fast). i normally buy as close to ATM as possible. you buy one slightly OTM call at a strike higher than the underlying, and one slightly OTM put thats below the current price. its even better if you manage to buy the contracts when they have low IV, as once it takes off in either direction, you get bonus gains from the vega.

yeah i know. im not picking up ANY new longs until i see a sign that its not just me and the rest of the retail traders out there. its too fucking weird. and then you see things like pic related and you have to just hope they arent right

>I'm surprised this works for ERs too
just gotta go for the companies that are going into a crucial ER. you want it to hit or miss BIG or its not gonna be worth it. or on days like today, like i did on FB. was totally convinced it was going down, but then i bought a strangle instead. and boy was i glad i did that

do you use walk limits? thats how i do it normally
gives you a range so youre more likely to get out in time. still think its got some legs on it though. especially if things turn red

and speaking of things turning red.
was scanning for options and look what i found.
